IRC CoC for EH IRC Users (Non-ops and ops) IRC CoC for EH IRC Operators (just ops)

IRC Code of Conduct for all EH IRC Users

To protect our online reputation, the EH RO, COMM officer, and High Inquisitor have laid out this Code of Conduct for ALL EH users to follow.

The Rules are as follows:

1. ALL flooding is OUTLAWED. NO EH Member will flood ANYONE, Rebel, Imperial, or Neutral on ANY IRC channel/server. All flooders will be warned, possibly EXPELLED from the EH, and we will notify an IRCop as to your activity and you will most likely be k:lined (banned) from the Undernet. This may seem harsh, but it is necessary to protect our online reputation. (This rule may be partially suspended when the EH is at "war" with the New Republic)

2. ALL Clonebots are now BANNED from all EH channels. Again, all users of clonebots will be warned once and EXPELLED. Consequences are the same as those listed above.

3. ALL 'Bots' (of any kind) used by members are forbidden on all EH IRC Channels WITHOUT prior clearance from the Recon Officer or the Communications Officer. (mail us the script).

4. ALL Members of the New Republic, Rogue Tau and Intruder Wing online clubs are herein denied access to the EH IRC Channel(s). Due to past misconduct and direct and unwarranted actions against the EH, it has been mutually agreed upon with the leaders of these clubs to keep our Memberships separated.

5. NO "idling" in the EH IRC Channel(s). Idling is defined as sitting in the Channel for an hour or longer without speaking or acting. This wastes bandwidth, makes it more difficult for people to recover from "netsplits", and tougher for people to join the channel.

Trouble isn't that hard to find on IRC. Most of the time, trouble will find you. Nevertheless, former CA:RO/AD Faron has laid out a great "Ten Commandments" that everyone should keep in mind while on IRC.

1.Thou shalt not flood or use clonebots

2.Thou shalt not take over other channels

3.Thou shalt not take advantage of channel service errors/netsplits

4.Thou shalt not abuse thy power, X, W or FX-7 (which includes deopping/kicking/banning X, W or FX-7)

5.Thou shalt act in a decent manner, representative of all the Empire

6.Thou shalt not insult others on a level external to Star Wars (i.e. age, gender, race, sexual orientation, etc.)

7.Thou shalt *NOT* initiate confrontation with others

8.Thou shalt ALWAYS respect direct orders given by the ranking officer in the channel.

9.Thou shalt not impersonate others

10.Thou shalt not abuse FX-7's fileserver (If such a thing exists... LSky? ;)

IRC Code of Conduct for EH Channel Ops

There a select few EH Members who are allowed to have ops, of which include, The entire EH Command Staff, all Subgroup Commanders, all Inquisitors, CA:FC, CA:COMM, and CA:RO. (All CA's are given X access, giving them access to most of the same privileges). As sometimes the ancient proverb says, absolute power corrupts. That is why ex-CA:XO/FA Garret has written these rules to keep our EH Channel operators in line.

Kick

A member should be warned first of their violation, then kicked, if:

- They use foul or unruly language, whether directed at another member or just in general.
- If a member of the channel continuously harasses another member after being warned by that member or an operator of the channel to cease the harassment. (*See Note below)
- If a member insists, after being warned to stop, on discussing a topic in the channel that only causes frustration and anger from the majority of other members in the channel.
- If a member is in another channel, after being warned to leave them, that can harm or bring a bad name to the Emperor's Hammer (i.e. Sex and Warez channels).
- If they are IRC Channel flooding

Banning

A temporary, non-X-ban should be implied (give a warning, i.e. warning kick, or say something) if a member comes back after a kick and repeats the action or actions that he/she was kicked for. Or a member becomes incredibly hostile and uses excessive language and attacks other members in the channel and they do not deserve any warnings or such. *Note: This is up to the operators of the channel. A 3-4 minute ban has a greater effect on a member then a quick kick. It allows time for them to cool down and possibly work out a solution in msg's w/o the distraction and possible provocation that may arise from the channel. Ex: retaliation.

X-Banning

An X-Ban should be implied then used (i.e. give a warning first) if a member:

- Is banned in the channel and does what is called: Ban Evasion so he/she can re-enter the channel.
- Any hacking, WinNuking or disruption of other member's programs and/or the EH channel bots.
- Any person or persons known to be banned from EH IRC activity in the EH by the Fleet Commander, Executive Officer, COMM, HCI or Security Officer.

*Note: Length of time for an X-ban is solely up to the channel operator or operators.

Also, it is suggested, that all persons that are X-banned are banned w/ a VERY good reason. This is so that all operators know why this person was banned and can watch them in the future. It should also be noted that ANY EH Command Staff abusing their OPS privileges will be dealt with SEVERELY by the Inquisitors, perhaps even with EH Bylaws charges...So, behave politely and courteously...:)
